Hi

At our last Committee meeting, I suggested starting a 'Coaching Corner' on our Clubs Website, which will in time be revamped.  All Committee members approved of this idea so here I am!

I have recently attended two BIKENZ HP led Coaching Courses in conjunction with the UCI, this takes me to Senior Coaching Level 2.  My intention is to, over a period of time, supply club members with relevant ideas/information on various issues/areas within cycling.

This is intended for those riders who are new to cycling who need general guidance on say what to eat or what sort of training mileage riders should be doing for say a 40km ride/race or ride the Taupo ride or how to cope with weekly races at the weekends.

We do need your feedback on this idea, whether this type of guidance is required to be placed on the web site or not, or through regular emails or just on the Notice Boards.

NB.
It is important to remember that those riders that do wish to pass on info or tips please go through either Noel or myself first, just so that theres no conflicting information.  It is important that the right advice is provided to those riders who are not in the know.

For the moment, I have attached information on Nutrition as I feel this is what makes us able to train properly.  Not eating properly or enough of the right foods, will lead to poor performances.

Please let us know your thoughts.  Happy Reading!

RideStrong.

MORE

Again, this is intended for the lesser experienced riders in the club.  However, It is good from time to time to revisit such areas as below from time to time during the 'in season', like 'pedalling technique' or 'cornering', to keep your body and technique 'in tune'.

The basics should be revisited at the beginning of the racing season as part of your 'preparation phase'.  Good skills with not only help the rider to avoid danger but it will also allow him/ her to handle problems and dangerous situations which are often not their own fault.

Like with any new found skill, Practice Practice Practice.
